Baltusrol Golf Club, synonymous with championship golf, sits at the base of Baltusrol Mountain in northern New Jersey, only a stone’s throw from New York City. With a rich heritage that dates back to 1895, Baltusrol remains true to our founder, Louis Keller’s vision to create a world class golf club befitting America’s leading city. Baltusrol’s two championship golf courses, the Lower and Upper, have played distinguished roles on the national stage since their creation by architect A.W. Tillinghast. The Club has hosted 17 major championships in its 125-year history, including seven U.S. Opens, two U.S. Women’s Opens, and two PGA Championships. In 2014, Baltusrol was designated a National Historic Landmark in recognition of its importance to Tillinghast’s career as a course designer.

Position Overview

The Director of Outside Operations will report to the Director of Golf. They will be responsible for managing the entire outside operations staff, including the bag room, cart barn, bag drop, and transportation staff. The Director of Outside Operations will be responsible for the management of the Club’s caddie program, and preserving Baltusrol’s longstanding tradition as a walking club with a renowned caddie program. They will manage the daily tee sheet and facilitate play on both of the club’s dual championship golf courses. The Director of Outside Operations will have strong management and leadership skills, and possess a positive attitude and welcoming personality.

Primary Responsibilites

• Supervise of a staff of 20 employees and multiple facilities on property including the bag room, cart barn, and bag drop area

• Oversee the Club’s caddie program, including daily caddie assignments, and 60-100 caddies throughout the year

• Manage the daily tee sheet and facilitate play on both golf courses

• Enhance the member and guest experience with unrivaled attention to detail and commitment to service

• Maintain adequate staffing levels across that allow for premium service

• Engage with other department managers to ensure consistency across all departments

• Monitor and maintain proper pace of play on both golf coursesAnnual Outings – 25-30

• Oversee all guest fee and outing fee billing

• Maintain accurate daily records of play and transportation

Candidate Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the private club industry

• A strong record of managing and leading employees

• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail

• Experience using ForeTees and Northstar systems is preferred

• Prior experience interacting with caddies is preferred

• Positive personality and willingness to work as a team
