Ivy League Titles to be Decided at MGA Member Clubs
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 21, 2016) – A pair of college conference championships will be decided at MGA member clubs this weekend, as the men’s and women’s Ivy League Golf Championships take place at Metedeconk National Golf Club in Jackson, N.J., and The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Conn., April 22-24.
2016 Caddie Academies a Success
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 20, 2016) - This year’s Caddie Academies saw record turnouts with nearly 400 participants coming out to clubs from all over the Met Area. Each two-hour seminar covered topics ranging from course etiquette and raking bunkers to proper clothing attire and equipment.
David V. Senft 1919-2016
David Senft, a longtime member of the MGA’s Course Rating and Rules and Competition Committees, passed away March 20, 2016 at the age of 97 .
Met PGA holds 54th Annual Education Forum
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 13, 2016) - The Metropolitan PGA held its 54th Annual Educational Forum on Tuesday, April 12 at the Westchester Broadway Theater.
History of Country Club of Fairfield
Located adjacent to the Southport Harbor on Long Island Sound, the Country Club of Fairfield has been host to numerous MGA and local area tournaments throughout its history. The club was founded in 1914 by Oliver Gould Jennings, his sister, and four others in the hope of creating a private course with fewer golfers.
Locals Earn Mackenzie Tour Status for 2016
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 11, 2016) – The Mackenzie Tour (PGA TOUR Canada) is in the midst of its spring Qualifying School tournaments, and several locals have gained status for the upcoming 2016 season. The PGA TOUR acquired the Canadian Tour in 2012, developing the circuit into a prime training ground for up-and-coming professional golfers to develop their games for the Web.com Tour and eventually the PGA TOUR.
