SCARBOROUGH, N.Y. (August 22, 2011) – Met Open venue Sleepy Hollow Country Club hosted a group of 60 enthusiastic junior golfers from The First Tee of Metropolitan New York on Monday, August 22, for the third and final MGA/MetLife Youth Clinic of 2011. The clinic was held in conjunction with the MGA/MetLife Caddie Scholarship Pro-Am at the 96th Met Open Championship. The youngsters were from The First Tee programs at Mosholu Golf Course in the Bronx and Mohansic Golf Course in Yorktown Heights, N.Y. They were joined by Sleepy Hollow head professional David Young and MetLife’s affable mascot, Snoopy, for a day of fun and instruction.

Instruction was moderated by Todd Bordanaro, First Tee Program Director at Mosholu Golf Course, home of The First Tee of Metropolitan New York, and Mike Wade, Program Director at The First Tee of Nassau County. Participants enjoyed chipping, putting and full-swing instruction. Pictures with Snoopy and some friendly competition were all part of the day, as well as a visit from MetLife Vice President of National Accounts Bob Petersen.

Also assisting Young, Bordanaro, and Wade with instruction were Skip Marini and Max Galloway, professionals from Mohansic Golf Course, which is in its second year as an affiliate of The First Tee of Metropolitan New York, as well as Sleepy Hollow Director of Instruction Kevin Sprecher and assistant professionals Natalie Tucker, Keith Neidig and Kyle Holmes. Joe Lee and Taureen Lemon, both First Tee counselors at Mosholu Golf Course, were also on hand to assist the junior golfers.

The MGA/MetLife Youth Clinics are conducted as part of a series of youth diversity initiatives conducted by the MGA and MetLife as part of their 30-year-old partnership, one of the longest-running in golf. Earlier events this year were held at the LPGA Sybase Match Play Championship a Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, N.J., and at the USGA’s Golf House headquarters in Far Hills, N.J.
