MGA/MetLife Youth Clinic visits MetLife Stadium

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (August 14, 2014) – On Tuesday, August 12 a group of 25 enthusiastic junior golfers enjoyed VIP treatment during a day at MetLife Stadium and New York Giants Training Camp for the second MGA/MetLife Youth Clinic of the summer.  The participants spent the morning at The First Tee of Metropolitan New York’s Essex County site where they learned golf and life skills at Weequahic Park in Newark, N.J.

The group arrived at the stadium and headed straight to the MetLife Club Suite, where they were greeted by Ticketing & Hospitality Manager Steve Sulavik and MetLife’s affable mascot Snoopy.  The kids enjoyed an ice cream treat while sitting in luxury with a bird’s eye view peering down onto the field as crew members set up the field for an upcoming concert.  Unlike any other NFL facility, MetLife Stadium is home to two NFL franchises, the New York Giants and the New York Jets.  In addition, MetLife Stadium hosts world class concerts, college football, International soccer and many other timeless events, including Super Bowl XLVIII earlier this year.

The youngsters then had an inside look at the Giants expansive locker room, getting a chance to see where some of their favorite players get ready on game day. They then toured the Toyota Coaches Club before walking onto the field.

After the tour, the young golfers proceeded to the Quest Diagnostics Center where they got a close look at some of the world’s finest athletes during New York Giants training camp.  The kids enjoyed lunch in the VIP tent and cheered as quarterback Eli Manning engineered a successful two-minute drill.  The day was filled with lots of smiles, which grew even bigger after practice when some of the Giants players stopped by to greet the juniors, take photos, and sign autographs, including quarterbacks Eli Manning and Curtis Painter; wide receiver Victor Cruz, cornerback Price Amukamara and rookie running back Andre Williams.  A couple lucky participants got an extra souvenir as some players gave away their gloves while on their way off of the field.

A fun day was had by all during an experience made possible by MetLife, the official supporter of the MGA foundation.  The event was second in a series of youth clinics conducted annually by the MGA Foundation and MetLife.  The next clinic will be held at Trump National – Bedminster in conjunction with the 99th Met Open Championship on Monday, August 18.
