Yun, McCarthy lead field at North Hills

MANHASSET, N.Y. (June 1, 2015)- A total of 31 players qualified for the 60th Ike Championship during a rainy and overcast day at North Hills Country Club in Manhasset, N.Y.

A starting field of 162 players competed for a chance to grab the 21 qualifying spots (plus ties) for the championship later this month at Friar’s Head. Today’s qualifying round at North Hills was played to a par 72 with a total yardage of 6,442. 
 
Today’s medalists were Matthew Yun of Douglaston and Thomas McCarthy of Century,who both shot a 1-over 73 and were the only two players to have under-par scores through their first nine holes. 
                                                                                         
Greg Reilly of Darien, Peter Davidsson of Bayonne and Andrew Demarco of MGA eClub – Long Island,rounded out the top-5 with scores of 2-over 74.
 
Stewart Hagestad of Golf & Body NYC and Christropher Troy of Stanwich both tied for sixth with 3-over 75s. 
 
Michael Blum of Engineers shot a 4-over 76, along with Raymond Weinmann of Huntington Crescent, John Yu of Bethpage, Michael Hirsh of Woodmere, and Rich Messina of Sands Point in a tie for eighth. 
 
Sean Byrne of Garden City GC, Adam User of MGA eClub - Long Island, Nicholas George DiMaio of Brookville, Matthew Csillag of Met PGA Junior Golf Club, and Bradley Rock Jr. and Alan Specht, both of Wheatley Hills all finished with scores of 5-over 77. 
 
A total of 13 players finished at the cutline of a 6-over 78. The last qualifying spots were earned by William Rand of East Hampton, Steven Tarulli of Hempstead, Oliver Hudesman of Muttontown, Jack Maerki of Bethpage, Robert Vollero of Bayonne, Peter Kratsios of Plandome, John-Michael Delvalle of Nassau Players, Edward Gibstein of Engineers, Jordan Kaplan of Pine Hollow, Michael Lee of North Shore, Ross Hoffman of Lake Success, Woody Lashen of Wheatley Hills, and Colin Warren of Rockville Links.
