Qualifying: 114th Met Amateur Championship

2015 Met Am champion Peter Kim

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (July 5, 2016) - Qualifying is underway for the 114th Met Amateur Championship, which will take place August 4-7 at the spectacular Country Club of Fairfield in Fairfield, Conn. The Met Am is the MGA's oldest championship, standing as the second oldest amateur championship in the country behind only the U.S. Amateur.

With names like Travis, Travers, Turnesa and Siderowf having claimed the historic title, the Met Am is one of the most coveted amateur events in the Met Area. It takes both a high level of skill and stamina to be the last man standing in the championship, as the area's best compete in 36 holes of on-site stroke play with only the top 16 advancing to match play for the remainder of the event. A winner is decided with a 36-hole championship match.
