Tyler Hall Medals at US Open Local Qualifier at Hollywood

DEAL, N.J. (May 12, 2016) –  Four qualifying spots were on the line at today’s U.S. Open Local Qualifying Round at Hollywood Golf Club in Deal, N.J. Tyler Hall of Wayne, N.J., earned medalist honors with a 6-under 65. The 2011 Met Open Champion led the field by 5 strokes thanks to a round with 6 birdies and no bogeys to move on to sectional qualifying.

Brett Jones of Basking Ridge, N.J., carded a 1-under 70 to get himself one step closer to the U.S. Open. Jones played in the 2015 PGA Championship. Christian Heavens of Orlando, Fl., qualified with an even 71.

Three players carded scores of 1-over 72 and a playoff was needed to determine the final qualifiers. Amateur Luke Graboyes of Watchung, N.J., took the fourth qualifying position after a par on the first playoff hole.

Amateur Etienne Brault of Canada finished as the first alternate, and Sam Kang of Mountain Lakes, N.J., is the second alternate.

Hollywood Golf Club, host of the 2017 Met Open Championship, played to a par 71 at 6,898 yards for the field of 78 competitors today.

The MGA will conduct two more U.S. Open Local Qualifying Rounds: Monday, May 16 at Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison, N.Y., and Tuesday, May 17 at Panther Valley Golf and Country Club in Allamuchy, N.J. The MGA conducted U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying Round is on Monday, June 6, at Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, N.J.
