28 Players Qualify for the WGA Open Presented by Callaway

Elmsford, N.Y. (May 9, 2017) – Qualifying for the 95th Westchester Open Presented by Callaway began today at Knollwood Country Club. A total of 28 players qualified for the WGA’s stroke play championship, which takes place July 10-11 at Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, N.Y.

Gerard Courville of Shorehaven, Wally Gonzalez of Golf Performance Center and David Schuster of Sleepy Hollow shared medalist honors and earned spots at Wykagyl with scores of even par 70.

Coming in close behind were Joseph Carrabino III of Winged Foot, Dustin Bride of Bonnie Briar, Matthew Dziubina of Stanwich, (a) Allan Morazes of Aspetuck Valley, and (a) Bart Weissman of Sterling Farms, carding rounds of 1-over 71.

(a) John Schob of Winged Foot and (a) Daniel Berkson of Brae Burn both secured their qualifying spots with scores of 2-over 72.

Qualifying with scores of 3-over 73 were (a) Ryan Garrity of MGA eClub - Wch/Ct, Joseph Leardo of Innis Arden, Kevin Ausserlechner of Fairview, and (a) Andrew Shortall of MGA eClub - NYC.

Four players shot 4-over 74 to advance, including (a) Gray Barnes of Centennial, Mitch Gray of Pelham, (a) Adam Friedman of Birchwood, and Kyle Bilodeau of Woodway.

Ten players took the remaining qualifying positions: Timothy Hegarty of Sleepy Hollow, (a) Tobin Whitman of Westchester Country, Frank Mattei of Bonnie Briar, Garrett Murphy of Innis Arden, (a) Eric Bleile of Sterling Farms, (a) William Jones Jr. of MGA Eclub-Wch/Ct, (a) George Roessler of Maidstone, Mike Dominici of Stanwich, Thomas Paulino of Quaker Ridge, and (a) Jason Monroe of Fenway.

Knollwood played to a par 70 at 6278 yards for a field of 83 players. The top 25 finishers and ties advanced.
