Championship Registration Open for 2017

UPDATE (March 15, 2017): Online registration is now open for the MGA's 2017 schedule including the 62nd Ike Championship presented by Callaway and the 102nd Met Open Championship presented by Callaway.  The only events not yet taking entries are the MGA/MetLife Men's Four-Ball Championship and the MGA/MetLife Women's Four-Ball Championship, for which registration opens on April 1, 2017.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (November 30, 2016) – The MGA’s championship schedule for 2017 is now available online and the historic championships are once again slated to be contested on the Met Area’s best courses.

Highly anticipated year after year, the MGA’s three major championships will take place at some of the finest and most challenging venues in the Met Area, as Century Country Club hosts the 62nd Ike MGA Stroke Play Championship presented by Callaway, Laurel Links Country Club welcomes the 115th Met Amateur Championship and Hollywood Golf Club hosts the 102nd Met Open Championship presented by Callaway.

While Century has hosted five different MGA Championships—including the Met Amateur on four occasions and most recently the MGA Senior Open in 2004—this will be the Ike Championship’s first visit to the Purchase, N.Y., club. Century has also notably tested players as a co-host of the MGA-conducted U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying Round, doing so on a three-year alternating basis. The Ike will take place June 26-27.

Laurel Links, situated on the North Fork of eastern Long Island in Laurel, N.Y., will be hosting its first-ever MGA championship with the 115th Met Amateur. The club, which opened in 2002, has proven to be a stern test for both U.S. Open local qualifying (2007, 2009) and U.S. Amateur sectional qualifying (2010, 2015), in which only Bob Rittberger (in both 2007 and 2009) and Sam Bernstein (2015) registered sub-par scores at the end of qualifying. The Met Amateur, the MGA’s oldest championship, is scheduled for August 3-6.

Hollywood, one of 16 Met Area clubs that have hosted all three MGA majors, will welcome the Met Open for the third time. The Met Open was last played at the Deal, N.J., club in 1991, while Hollywood more recently welcomed the Met Amateur in 2012. The Met Open will take place August 22-24.

Additionally, the Met Junior Championship sponsored by MetLife will reach a milestone year with its 100th playing. The event, slated for July 19-21, will take place at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, N.J., where the championship was first played in 1912. The club last hosted an MGA championship with the Met Open in 2012, and is notably in the rotation as host of the PGA Tour’s lead event of the FedExCup Playoffs.

Another highlight on the 2017 schedule is Westchester Country Club simultaneously hosting the MGA/MetLife Men’s Four-Ball Championship (West Course) and the MGA/MetLife Women’s Four-Ball Championship (South Course). Sectional Qualifying Rounds will be held during the month of September, while the Championship proper will take place on October 10.
