Glen Oaks Hosts Successful Taste of the Tee Event

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (August 22, 2017) - THANK YOU LONG ISLAND!!

The setting was spectacular: in the Skybox behind the 9th & 18th green at the Glen Oaks Club on the eve of the Northern Trust.

The food was sensational: nothing but the best from Lobster Press, Momofuku and Junior’s at the 2017 Taste of the Tee!

The crowd was enthusiastic: young men and women from a variety of Long Island junior golf, internship and scholarship programs.

And the hosts made history!!

Five outstanding golf associations joined together for the first time to raise funds to celebrate the game of golf through education and junior golf programs on Long Island. The MGA Foundation, the Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association Foundation, The First Tee of Metropolitan NY, the Met PGA Section and the Long Island Caddie Scholarship Fund all joined with their invited guests to enjoy a Tuesday practice round followed by a gourmet reception attended by PGA TOUR players Bud Cauley and Ryan Moore, both former junior stars.

Students and junior golf participants were on hand to meet and greet over 100 guests who supported the event. Importantly, the combined reach of the separate programs and initiatives of all five organizations is over 10,100 young men and women each year.  The investment each organization makes to our community and next generation of citizens, and golfers, is remarkable. The game of golf and the nurturing environment provide the perfect backdrop for education and character building.

Thanks again to the mentors, supporters and enthusiastic kids for a memorable afternoon and a great collaboration. Special thanks to Executive Chef sponsors Don Hendler, Gene Bernstein, Tricia & Michael Sullivan and family, Russell Albanese and Harry Braunstein.
