Hagestad Selected to 2017 U.S. Walker Cup Team

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (August 20, 2017) -- At the conclusion of the 117th U.S. Amateur Championship, the USGA announced its selections for September's U.S. Walker Cup team with 2016 MGA Player of the Year Stewart Hagestad earning a bid to the squad. The competition takes place September 9-10 at Los Angeles Country Club, where Hagestad is a junior member.

Hagestad claimed the 2016 Met Amateur to begin an outstanding run of golf in which he was open about his wish to make the U.S. team for this year's Walker Cup Matches. He carried momentum into the U.S. Mid-Am where he authored a historic comeback to defeat past champion Scott Harvey despite facing a four-hole deficit with five to play. The victory earned him a spot in the 2017 Masters Tournament, where his game continued to deliver dream-come-true scenarios. Hagestad made the cut with rounds of 74-73, then replicated the numbers over the weekend, rising to capture Low Amateur honors.
