Active Handicap Season Has Begun

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (March 30, 2012) - Spring is upon us, which means it's officially score posting season. All rounds played in the Met Area are now eligible to be posted for handicap purposes.

Handicaps are a unique feature of the game of golf, allowing players with differing abilities to compete equitably against each other. One of the benefits of MGA membership is the ability to carry an official USGA Handicap Index, and to receive your updated Handicap Index electronically  through the MGA's e-Revision Newsletter, which is e-mailed on the 1st and 15th of every month during the active season (April 1 to October 31).

Through all the various tools the MGA provides to its members, score posting is easier than it's ever been. Here's how you can post your scores:

  • The MGA App available on the iPhone, iPad and Android (allows players to post scores as soon as they walk off the 18th green).
  • Score posting computers (right), available at your all MGA member clubs.
  • Using the MGA Mobile website on your Blackberry or other handheld device.
  • Clicking the Post Your Score button on mgagolf.org.

It's important to note that if you have scores from the inactive season (Nov. 1 to March 31) that were made in regions of the country which observe an active season (i.e., Florida), they must be posted for handicap purposes if you haven't already done so. Any scores made in the Met Area during the inactive season are ineligible for posting.
