The Met Golfer Wins Best Publication at ING Media Awards

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (January 26, 2017) – The Met Golfer, the Metropolitan Golf Association’s official magazine, was a big winner at the 24th Annual International Network of Golf (ING) Media Awards on January 25 at the PGA Merchandise Show, as it collected four First-Place awards—including Best Publication—and two Outstanding Achiever honors.

This is the magazine’s third selection as Best Publication in the last five years, with the February/March 2016 issue collecting the honor this year. “The Architecture Issue” featured an attention-grabbing design sketch on the cover, an insightful story on green construction from Tom Doak and a look at C.B. Macdonald’s famed Lido by Bill Fields.

In addition to Best Publication, Editor Jeff Neuman also took top honors for his “In the Loop” column in the April/May 2016 issue.

Other First-Place recipients included Ray Tennenbaum in Profile Writing for his “Lost in the Sands of Time” (April/May 2016) piece on 1900 Olympian George Sands, and Ken Van Vechten in Equipment & Apparel Writing for his club fitting story, “Go Ahead, Have A Fit” (June/July 2016).

Earning recognition as Outstanding Achievers were Hank Gola in Profile Writing for his “Our Man in Rio” (June/July 2016) story on Jimmy Roberts and Les Schupak in Opinion/Editorial for his Book Reviews.

ING is a non-profit, media-based networking organization and conducts the awards program for its membership, which is open to anyone in the golf industry and media.
