The co-medalists shot matching 1-over 72s to lead the field heading into the MGA’s first major of the year, which will be held at Century Country Club in Purchase, N.Y., for the first time, June 26-27.

Just one shot back of the medalists was 2016 U.S. Amatuer qualifier Dan O’Rourke of Oak Hill at 2-over 73.

Louis Bodine of Copper Hill and Kyle Brey of Bethpage came in at 3-over 74, while Logan Jackson Sabins of Jumping Brook, Blake Dipaola of Black Oak and Jim Romaniello of Shorehaven followed at 4-over 75.

At 5-over 76 were Tyler Duke of Rumson, Ethan Wall of Manasquan River, Clifford Lindholm of Montclair and MGA eClub – New Jersey member Michael Reilly.

Grabbing the last qualifying positions at 6-over 77 were Michael Auerbach of Nassau Players Club, Mark Lyszczasz of Neshanic Valley, recent U.S. Open sectional qualifier Evan Quinn of New Jersey National, Matthew Morgan of Darlington, and Jim Barry of host course Spring Lake.

Spring Lake played to a par 71 at 6,467 yards. Winds blew steadily at 15-20 mph throughout the day, with gusts up to 40 mph. The open layout left players vulnerable in the wind and the course’s small, fast-paced greens added to the challenge.

The MGA will conduct four additional qualifiers to complete the field for the Ike Championship, with the next two taking place May 22 at Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich, Conn., and Plandome Country Club in Plandome, N.Y. For complete details and qualifying information, visit mgagolf.org.
