26 Qualify for MGA Ike at Burning Tree

Greenwich, CT. (May 22, 2017) – Sectional qualifying continued Monday, May 22 for the 62nd MGA Ike Stroke Play Championship Presented by Callaway. A total of 26 players qualified from a starting field of 156, led by Daniel Gabel of McCann with a 2-under 69. Gabel set the lead early, finishing with medalist honors as the only player to card a red number in today’s rainy conditions.

Not far off the lead was Matt Mattare of Darlington with an even-71, followed by Connor Daly of Siwanoy with a 1-over 72.

At 2-over 73 were Jake Sullivan of Golf Performance Center, Brendan Davis of Fiddler’s Elbow and Bart Weissman of Sterling Farms.

Gerry Mackedon of Port Jefferson, Tore Carlson of Bedford, Chris Eskierski of MGA eClub – Westchester/Conn. and Max Theodorakis of Ridgewood finished at 4-over 75, while Michael Cochrane of MGA eClub – Westchester/Conn and Edward Bugniazet of Winged Foot also qualified with a 5-over 76.

Rounding out the players who punched their ticket to the championship are as follows: Bear Carlson of Bedford (77), Armando Olivieri III of Griff Harris (77),Brian Krex of Winged Foot (77), John Ervasti of Sleepy Hollow (77), Luke Feehan of Mahopac (77), Thomas Collins III of Essex County (78), Jason Monroe of Fenway (78), Jake M. Trotta of Wkyagyl (78), Matthew Camel of Round Hill (78), Benoit Ugeux of Rye (78), Eric Ganshaw of Round Hill (78), Brian McClure of MGA eClub – Westchester/Conn. (78), Luke Haralampoudis of Spring Brook (78), Kevin Duncan of McCann (78).

Burning Tree played to a par 71 at 6,433 yards in rainy conditions.
