Since its founding in 1991, the MGA Foundation has impacted thousands of individuals throughout the Met Area by providing access to developmental programs both on and off the golf course. The MGAF's initiatives include the GOLFWORKS student-intern program, junior competitions and youth golf access, caddie initiatives including annual Caddie Academies, adaptive golf programming, and support of local and national programs, including First Tee-Metropolitan New York, to fulfill the mission to help preserve the game's past and protect its future.

2016 Caddie Academies a Success

2016 Caddie Academies a Success

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 20, 2016) - This year’s Caddie Academies saw record turnouts with nearly 400 participants coming out to clubs from all over the Met Area. Each two-hour seminar covered topics ranging from course etiquette and raking bunkers to proper clothing attire and equipment. At the end of the session caddies are awarded certificates that they can show to caddie managers in the area when they begin to look for a job.

(September 17, 2014) - The MGA Foundation’s cornerstone internship program, GOLFWORKS, provides meaningful summer working experiences at Met Area clubs to more than 230 deserving high school students each year. Now in its 20th year, the success of the GOLFWORKS program can be attributed to the willingness of MGA member clubs to hire very deserving teenagers, many of whom have never considered working at a golf club, like second-year intern Gerardo Ramos, who works at The Apawamis Club in Rye, N.Y.

MGA/MetLife Youth Clinic a Success

FAR HILLS, N.J. (July 23, 2014) – An enthusiastic group of more than 80 young golfers took part in the year's first MGA/MetLife Youth Clinic, hosted by the USGA at their headquarters in Far Hills, N.J. Groups were on hand from The First Tee of Metropolitan New York’s Plainfield West and Essex County facilities, as well as New Jersey’s First Tee of Raritan Valley.
