ELMSFORD, N.Y. (August 9, 2007) – Four top Met Area junior golfers have been selected to represent the MGA on the 2007 Williamson Cup team. The team will travel to Weirton, West Virginia for the 44th playing of the Williamson Cup Inter-City Matches, to be held on August 13 and 14 at Williams Country Club.

MGA/MetLife Boys Championship Returns To Bedford

BEDFORD, N.Y. (August 7, 2007) – A talented field of 16 boys (under 16 years of age) will compete in the 39th MGA/MetLife Boys Championship on Thursday and Friday, August 9 and 10, at Bedford Golf & Tennis Club in Bedford, N.Y. The contestants will compete over two days of match play, preceded by a practice round and luncheon on Wednesday, August 8.

The MGA/MetLife Boys Championship is open to any boy, not yet 16 years of age, who is a student in good standing at an accredited school in the MGA district or who has playing privileges at an MGA member club.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (August 4, 2007) Greg Rohlf of Winged Foot will meet Marc Issler of Pine Barrens (N.J.) in the finals of the 105th Met Amateur Championship at Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, New York. The 42-year-old Rohlf is looking to win his third MGA title, and the second at his former home course. His opponent in the finals, the 21-year-old Issler, is looking for his first MGA victory. The 36-hole final will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the second 18 holes scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (August 3, 2007) – A thrilling 22-hole quarterfinal match capped an action-packed Friday at the 105th Met Amateur Championship at Wykagyl Country Club. Kevin Foley of Neshanic Valley (N.J.) outlasted 14-year-old Cameron Wilson of Shorehaven (Conn.) in a match that went four extra holes. Foley, runner-up in last year’s Met Amateur at Baltusrol, is a sophomore at Penn State and was the Big 10 Freshman of the Year in 2007.
