October 7, 2009 — Lowell Schulman has been honored with the USGA Ike Grainger Award in recognition of his more than 25 years of volunteer service to the USGA. The award is named for Isaac B. “Ike” Grainger, a dedicated volunteer and rules official who was president of the MGA from 1943-45 and of the USGA from 1954-55.

First Stage fields are getting finalized with Met Area players represented in many of the different venues.
First Stage Qualifying October 20-23:
Play is now completed at four of the seven sites conducting the first stage of 2009 PGA Tour Qualifying School, and former Met Open champion John Stoltz of Concord, N.Y., and 2004 MGA/MetLife Boys champion Sunny Kim of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., were the only two Met Area players to advance to the second stage so far.
The First Stage of 2009 PGA Tour Qualifying School is being played at venues across the country, with several Met Area players looking to advance to the second stage.
