2019 Presidents Council Fall Conference

2019 MGA Presidents Council Fall Conference
Monday, October 21
Brae Burn Country Club, Purchase, N.Y.

This year's program will feature the following seminar presentations:

Panel Discussion: Legal, Legislative and Regulatory Concerns for MGA Member Clubs

MGA member clubs are facing a variety of legislative issues that could impact them greatly going forward. The trends on all of these issues is not going in the favor of private clubs or the game of golf, particularly here in the tri-state New York, New Jersey and Connecticut region. These issues have presented a call to action for the golf community and points to the need for us all to be better prepared in the future to proactively present the value golf courses bring to their communities. In this discussion, a panel of industry leaders will discuss these issues and provide updates on specific legislation, focusing on ways your club can be prepared for and answer these challenges.

The Art of Significance

Rick Coyne, President, Club Mark Corporation

One of the most interesting realities of the private club industry is that we spend far more time and energy in matriculating new members than we do keeping the ones that we have. Rick will discuss what programs, events and assets are most relevant to today’s members and potential members, and how your club can better utilize the assets you already have. The presentation will focus on what best practices are working and the keys to enhancing the membership retention process, and building relationships that create community. This is a perfect session to collectively engage all of your stakeholders, Board and Committee Members, Department Heads and Membership Professionals in the things most important to growth, retention, increased usage and increased satisfaction.

Time for a Wellness Checkup!

Dan Condon, Condon, O’Meara, McGinty & Donnelly

Most people have annual medical physicals to make sure everything is OK. It's time for your club to do the same. This session, presented by Dan Condon, will touch on the many aspects that should be reviewed annually to ensure that your club continues to perform well.

Legal & Legislative Update: From the National Club Association

Joe Trauger, Vice President of Government Relations of the National Club Association

Joe will provide a brief overview on key legal and legislative issues facing the private club industry - healthcare reform, real estate evaluations, private club status, immigration, taxes and other issues - both on the local and national level.

MGA/MGA Foundation Update

MGA representatives will provide reports on the activities of both the Association and the MGA’s charitable Foundation.
