Sessa Elected President at the 2022 LIGA Annual Meeting

 

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (November 14, 2022) - On Thursday, November 10, the Long Island Golf Association and Long Island Caddie Scholarship Fund gathered for a virtual joint annual meeting.

LICSF Secretary Adam Russell reported on a successful year for the fund, in which 78 students attending 56 different colleges/universities and representing 30 member clubs were awarded scholarships. Three new LICSF directors were welcomed to the board: David Barrett of Rockaway Hunting Club, Jared Brecher of the Seawane Club, and Brendan Carroll. 

Outgoing LIGA President David Mattana recounted his presidency and the 2022 LIGA season. Tom Roden, Manager of Championship Operations, presented the tournament report and highlighted all 2022 championship winners. Matt Lowe of Bethpage and Dave Scialabba of Meadow Brook were honored as the LIGA Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year, respectively, after outstanding seasons. 

A new slate of officers and presented and voted on for the 2023 operating year: Jay Sessa of Cherry Valley was elected President, Daniel Goldstein of Wheatley Hills Vice President, James Dunne of Garden City as Treasuer, and Ed Gibstein of Glen Head as Secretary.
