Tournament Manager

POSITION: Tournament Manager – Full Time Position

LOCATION: Elmsford, New York (25 minutes from New York City)

START DATE: Open until position filled

Serving the New York Metropolitan area for over 118 years, the Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association (“WMGA”) is the second-oldest women’s golf association in the United States with approximately 190 member clubs and 2,400 individual members. Its mission is to foster women’s amateur golf and to encourage the participation of junior girls, while promoting integrity, respect for the game, and good fellowship through individual and team competition. The WMGA also performs course rating services for women throughout the metropolitan area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and conduct all tournament activity of the WMGA, including 30+ events in the Met area (May – October)
  • Prepare all necessary documentation for players, volunteers, and the host club in addition to on site tournament administration the day(s) of the event
  • Financial responsibility for all tournament activity
  • Hire, train, and manage golf intern
  • Recruit, train, and supervise tournament volunteers
  • Assist with management of website and newsletter content
  • Manage social media including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other digital platforms
  • Support junior golf and other Foundation initiatives
  • Develop programs and generate ideas that are appropriate and effective for the association

  • Demonstrate leadership skills to be able to gain the respect of the membership and member clubs, office staff and volunteers
  • Organized, with the ability to establish clear priorities
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written in one-on-one or with large groups
  • Exhibit self-initiative, strong work-ethic, professionalism and unquestionable integrity
  • Passion for golf, golf administration and love of the game
  • Desire to ensure continued relevance of junior girls and women's amateur golf and long-term sustainability of organization

REQUIREMENTS:

  • College degree
  • 1-3 years of golf administration and/or directing tournaments preferred
  • PGA/USGA Rules of Golf Workshop attendance, proficient in the Rules of Golf
  • Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), familiarity with Adobe InDesign, QuickBooks, and working knowledge of BlueGolf, TPP or similar online golf tournament program
  • Ability to work with all ages, from seniors to juniors
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, office hours of 9 to 5, with flexibility on tournament days
  • Provide reliable automotive transportation
