Championship Department – Metropolitan Golf Association


 

Position: Intern (Championship Department)

Period: March, 2019 – October, 2019 (8 Months)

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the administration of the MGA Championship Department
  • Support all the projects and activities of the Championship Department.
  • Pre-tournament preparation (e.g. Course Marking, Course Set-Up, Local Rules, etc.)
  • On-site tournament administration at approximately 50% of MGA Competitions.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of material for Championships, mailings, meetings, seminars.
  • Handle correspondence and maintain records.
  • Act as liaison to MGA member clubs and patrons on questions regarding MGA and other Met Area competitions.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of caddie training seminars and annual Tournament Officials Seminar.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, telephone), public relations, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office and various database programs)
  • Valid driver’s license with access to an automobile and the ability to travel throughout the Tri-State area.
  • Willingness to work in a fast paced and team-oriented structure with emphasis on customer service ideals.
  • Knowledge of golf and golf terminology.

 

Benefits:

  • Salary – $2,000 per month, and travel expense reimbursement
  • MGA staff apparel and uniforms
