Member Service a Staple at Silo Ridge Field Club

You’ve been introduced to Amenia, New York’s Silo Ridge Field Club, its championship Tom Fazio golf course, and its master plan featuring more than $250 million in amenities. You’ve read about its family-focused environment, its variety of residences, and opportunities for outdoor pursuits. However, one of the greatest amenities Silo Ridge will have to offer is a characteristic found at each of Discovery Land Company’s properties: unparalleled member service.

“What’s amazing is that you feel like you’re on vacation when you’re at our clubs, but it’s your home and it’s your club,” explained Dan O’Callaghan, Discovery Land Company’s Northeast Director of Sales. “We bring a different level of service that is unmatched anywhere in private or public golf.”

O’Callaghan—a Bedford, N.Y., native who is excited to offer the Discovery Land Company experience near the Met Area—and sales associates Andrew Magee and Eoghan O’Connell are some of the first contacts made by a potential member family. All three own impressive golf resumes, with O’Callaghan quipping he’s the slouch of the group, even as a two-time All-American during his time at Rollins College and a qualifier for the 1998 U.S. Amateur. A Bedford Golf & Tennis member, O’Callaghan also owns three runner-up finishes in the WGA Mid-Am, and top-10s in the MGA’s Mid-Am (2011) and Ike Championship (2013).

Meanwhile, Magee is a four-time winner on the PGA TOUR, including the 1991 Arnold Palmer Invitational, and made seven appearances in the Masters. O’Connell, a native of Ireland, was an All-American at Wake Forest, medaled in stroke play at the 1989 U.S. Amateur and went unbeaten in four matches—even gaining a half against Phil Mickelson—as a member of Great Britain and Ireland’s winning Walker Cup team in 1989.

The knowledgeable and experienced trio help guide potential members by providing detailed information on Silo Ridge, whether about the spectacular golf course, the seemingly endless amenities to come, or the residences that are split into five distinct neighborhoods, with each offering a lifestyle to fit the taste of the member family.

The service heightens from there, as the dedicated Silo Ridge staff get to know the member family and their tastes. “As I’ve traveled and played 600-plus tournaments on the PGA TOUR and played in countless pro-am events at other clubs, I’ve had a great chance to see the difference of Discovery’s service,” explained Magee, who spent 25 years between the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour. “Discovery delivers the most consistent, best service of any golf development company I’ve ever been involved with.”

“Members can pretty much ask us for anything and we’ll do our utmost to get it done,” remarked O’Connell, who is no stranger to the Met Area having competed in prestigious events such as the Travis Invitational (which he won in his first appearance in 2006) and the Anderson Memorial with O’Callaghan. O’Connell says the service for members begins before they even step foot on the grounds, as staff can do anything from providing transportation from the adjacent train station or stock a fridge prior to arrival.

“Service is a key component everywhere you walk around,” said O’Callaghan. “When you’re at the pool (pictured left), when you’re playing tennis, when you’re in the dining room.” Whether enjoying time at the Family Barn, participating in a variety of sporting activities at the Field House, or planning a day to enjoy outdoor activities of the Hudson Valley with help from the Outdoor Pursuits team, member families will be granted the greatest experience available.

A personalized, unique touch is also present during your round of golf at Comfort Stations, which O’Callaghan describes as one of the most memorable experiences at Discovery clubs. With multiple locations on the golf course, Comfort Stations provide members with their favorite snacks and drinks to make the round more enjoyable.

Across the board, O’Callaghan, Magee and O’Connell are thrilled to introduce Discovery Land Company to the Northeast. “I’m excited about the opportunity we have in the New York area to show what we can do and what Discovery can produce,” Magee remarked. “I think it’s a very unique opportunity—people in this area have never seen this type of development and service. I think they’re going to be blown away.”
