Butler, a rising sophomore at University of Alabama, will garner the No. 2 seed while reigning champion Colby Anderson of Nassau carries the top seed and will square off against Patrick O'Halloran of Rockville Links in the Round of 32. Butler's round was highlighted by an impressive 29 on his first nine, as he carded birdies on No. 2 and Nos. 4-7 to set a blistering pace. He tallied a pair of bogeys on his way in, but also rolled in one more birdie on the par-five 14th en route to the 66.

Dan Abbondandolo of host club Brookville carded 2-under 68, while Will Rand of East Hampton, Dennis Lynch of Nassau Players and Brad Barnett of Cherry Valley all registered 1-under 69s, all hoping to begin their run in the championship that tests endurance as much as it does skill.

Two rounds of matches are slated for both Tuesday and Wednesday, with the final two competitors remaining come Thursday will square off in a 36-hole for the title in the historic championship.

The final seeds were decided out of an 8-for-6 playoff which only required two holes.

Matches begin at 7:30 a.m.
