Gibstein, Lynch lead Weber Memorial Senior Amateur

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (October 17, 2019) -- Edward Gibstein of Glen Head Country Club and Dennis Lynch of the Nassau Players Club shot one over par 73s on day one of the 2019 Arthur Weber Memorial Senior Amateur Championship at Old Westbury Golf & Country Club, Thursday, to lead 10 other players who shot 79 or better in making the cut. The championship concludes with another 18 holes on Friday; spectators are welcome.

Gross and net competitions in three age-defined divisions were completed on Thursday. In the Senior Division (ages 55-60), MGA eClub - Long Island member Scott Singer won the low net competition, and Lynch was second. In the Super Senior Division (ages 61-67), Jay Sessa of the Cherry Valley Club won the gross competition; Matt Corrigan of the Nassau Players Club was second. Kevin Durant of Kings Park Golf Association won the Super Seniors net competition, and William Finkelstein of the Village Club of Sands Point was second. In the Legends Division (68 and over), Alan Finkelstein of Fresh Meadow Country Club won the gross competition, and Peter Van Ingen of Deepdale Golf Club was second. In the Legends net competition, the winner was MGA eClub - Long Island member Michael Katayanagi and Don Lizak of Southampton Golf Club was second.
