Huntington Crescent Club Takes Home the 25th MGA/MetLife Men's Net Team Championship

On a windy day at scenic Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park, NJ, Huntington Crescent Club's team of Arthur Roche and Robert Chrenc combined to shoot a net 8-under par 74 to capture the 25th MGA/MetLife Men's Net Team Championship.

Roche, the 1983 Met Net champ, and Chrenc managed Brooklake's difficult par three's and the incessant winds in both their firsttime playing the course.  "The greens were extremely tough today.  This was perhaps the best round we've ever played in windy conditions like this," the winning team said afterwards.

Mohansic GC's team of John Stelluti Jr. & Sr., paired with Huntington Crescent Club, carded a net eagle on their final hole but finished one stroke off the pace of their playing partners after shooting a net seven-under par 65 to claim second prize.  Dunwoodie's team of William Means and Peter Spagnuolo claimed third prize after a match of cards with Oyster Bay, after both teams finished tied at five-under par 67.  Defending champs Robert Davis and Rich Simone of Spring Lake (NY) were on hand to defend their title and finished at even-par 72.

This year, once again, with the support of MetLife more than 2,000 teams competed at the club level for the right to advance to the three sectional qualifying rounds.  These sectional qualifying rounds produced the 50 teams that competed today in this 18-hole stroke play, net better ball with players competing at 90% of their course handicap.
