Mosholu Golf Training Center Will Host Disabled Golfers Clinic and Exhibition by Paraplegic Golfer Dennis Walters

 

BRONX, N.Y. - The American Golf Foundation will host a special day of activities for local disabled youths and adults on Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Mosholu Golf Training Center in the Bronx. Presented in collaboration with the City Parks Foundation, Special Olympics of New York and The First Tee of Metropolitan

New York, the event will feature hands-on golf instruction, a motivational golf clinic by world-renowned trick shot artist and paraplegic golfer Dennis Walters, and a barbecue lunch. The event will take place rain or shine.

 

The event will begin with registration at 8:30 am, followed by the Dennis Walters Golf Show at 9:30 am. At 10:30 am, attendees can participate in interactive golf clinics in putting, chipping and full swing. Guests will be treated to a barbecue lunch at noon.

 

"We are thrilled to provide an opportunity for disabled individuals to enjoy a fun-filled day of golf and camaraderie," said John Flaschner, Executive Director of the American Golf Foundation. "Golf is an extraordinary sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, and we are pleased to work in partnership with our sponsors and supporters to introduce the game to local residents who might not otherwise have exposure to it."

 

Dennis Walters was a professional golfer more than 25 years ago when a golf cart accident left him a paraplegic. Since that time, he has developed a special golf cart that enables him to continue playing golf, and has devoted his life to entertaining and inspiring others to overcome adversity through his dynamic Dennis Walters Golf Show. His show has been featured at numerous PGA events and on a variety of national television programs, and he serves as the warm-up act for the Tiger Woods Junior Golf Clinics hosted by Tiger and his father, Earl Woods.
