First Tee Scholars Join Media at CA Championship

BRONX, N.Y. (March 27, 2008) - Philip Spano, an Ace level student in The First Tee of Metropolitan New York program at Mosholu Golf Course in the Bronx, N.Y., and a Class of 2009 First Tee Scholar, was one of three students nationwide chosen to attend last week’s WGC-CA Championship as an on-course reporter. The three “rookies,” which also included Ellie Maniery, The First Tee of Greater Sacramento and Stefano Diaz, The First Tee of Miami, interacted with golf media and caddies, and participated in a question and answer session with the players.

During the tournament, reporters posted entries to their own blog on www.pgatour.com and had the opportunity to meet with sports writers Helen Ross, Randy Mell, and Doug Ferguson, and get some tips about the world of sports writing.  For Spano, a lefty golfer, the highlight of the event was being able to watch Phil Mickelson in action.
