The First Tee to Welcome PGA Tour Pro J.J. Henry

Fairfield County native to attend breakfast and clinic at Fairchild Wheeler

May 15, 2009 – Fairfield County native, and PGA Tour member, J.J. Henry will support The First Tee efforts in Fairfield County at a breakfast and clinic at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course in Fairfield Conn., on Monday, June 29 from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Known as “The Wheel,” Fairchild Wheeler is home to The First Tee site serving Fairfield County, which is one of five sites of The First Tee of Metropolitan New York.

 

   J.J. Henry has committed his foundation, The Henry House, as the sponsor of the event which will raise funds to support The First Tee’s many programs in Fairfield County. The First Tee Chapters of Metropolitan New York and Connecticut have come together in a partnership to provide the many cities and towns in Fairfield County with this unique youth development program.

 

   J.J. Henry visited Fairchild Wheeler, where he played many of his high school matches, for a similar function in 2007 and was very impressed with the renovations. Since then, the course has undergone further renovation, making it one of the most challenging and beautiful public golf courses in Fairfield County.

About The First Tee of Metropolitan New York

The First Tee of Metropolitan New York was created in 2001 as a joint venture between the MGA Foundation and the Metropolitan Section of the PGA to create affordable and accessible golf facilities and bring First Tee programming to young people of all backgrounds throughout the New York metropolitan area. TFTMNY serves as the local chapter in the New York metropolitan area. Facilities include The First Tee of Essex County (Newark, N.J.), The First Tee of Nassau County (Eisenhower Park), The Golf Club at Chelsea Piers, The First Tee at Fairchild-Wheeler (Bridgeport, Conn.), and the main chapter location at Mosholu Golf Course in the Bronx. With these five sites, the MGA Foundation and the Met PGA have now expanded their partnership network to include the New Jersey PGA and the New Jersey State Golf Association and The First Tee of Connecticut in Fairfield County.
