Nine MGA Caddie Academies Set for 2011

February 2, 2011 – One of the most popular and beneficial services provided by the MGA Foundation is back in full force as nine MGA member clubs are set to host 2011 Caddie Academies this Spring. These events are fun and educational, and provide individuals with the opportunity to learn the basics needed to work as a caddie, one of the most integral employment opportunities in Met Area golf. With over 450 participants in 2010, Caddie Academies are one of the many successful programs conducted during the season by the MGA Foundation. The academies are conducted by members of the MGA staff with the help of local caddie masters, who volunteer their time.

Caddie Academies, which began in 1995, consist of one-day, after-school programs at participating MGA member clubs. They are open to Met Area men and women of all ages, are free of charge, and all participants receive certificates of completion which assist the participants in obtaining employment at area golf clubs. The afternoon sessions include classroom instruction followed by on-course training that focuses on proper golf and caddie technique and etiquette on the tees, fairways, and green complexes.
