Last Chance to Register For 2012 Ike Championship

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 9, 2012) - Amateur golfers in the Met Area have one last chance to register for the first MGA major championship and one of the most prestigious tournaments on the 2012 calendar. The Ike will be contested at Atlantic Golf Club in Bridgehampton, N.Y., a course that has hosted many notable tournaments in the past, including the 2005 Met Open, 1997 U.S. Senior Amateur Championship, and 2010 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.

The Ike is open to all amateurs who belong to an MGA Member Club and have a Handicap Index not exceeding 5.0. Two qualifying sites are filled (Huntington Country Club in Huntington, N.Y. and Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville N.Y.), but three remaining sites are still accepting entries until May 11:

  • Rockville Links Club, Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Monday, May 21)
  • Fiddler's Elbow Country Club (Forest Course), Far Hills, N.J.
  • Paramount Country Club, New City, N.Y.

Players can register for any one of these sites here.

Constructed by Rees Jones in 1992 (awarded "Best New Private Course" by Golf Digest that same year), Atlantic Golf Club will be in peak shape come June 25, day one of the Ike. The links-style course recently had its bunkers redone, giving them an older and deeper look and head professional Rick Hartmann said in the current Met Golfer issue that "The Ike is a great way to see the golf course get tested."
