2013 Ike: Mid-day Recap
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (June 24, 2013) - Temperatures were high early this morning as the morning wave of players teed off in the first round of the 2013 Ike Championship at Wykagyl Country Club. Max Buckley of Westchester, who just won the NYC Amateur and the Anderson Memorial, was the low scorer of the morning with a 3-under 69 with 4 birdies on his back-nine. Buckley commented that although he got off to a challenging start, he was able to recover from a bogey early on with three birdies in a row to get into a groove for the rest of the round.
Buckley’s playing partner this morning, Mark Henderson of Saint Andrew’s, finished one stroke behind at 2-under 70. Henderson was the 2012 MGA Mid-Amateur champion.
Stu Kaufman of Westchester is at the top of the leaderboard this morning as well with his score of 1-under 71. A handful of players are right in the mix at 1-over 73, including recent Long Island Amateur champ Matt Lowe of Colonial Springs and St. John’s University golfer Dylan Crowley of Glen Cove.
