Wilson, Pastore, and Turnesa Set for Web.com Tour Q-School Finals

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (December 8, 2014) - The final stage is set for Web.com Tour Qualifying School and three Met Area locals are gearing up for the six-round 108 hole tournament that begins this Thursday at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., on the Fazio and Champion courses. Competitors will play 18 holes each day until next Tuesday when the top 45 players that earn exemptions onto the 2015 Web.com Tour will be determined.

The medalist of the event will earn a full exemption in 2015, while those finishing in the top 10 plus ties will be exempt for 12 events, or the third PGA Tour reshuffle. Players finishing 11-45th will earn exemptions for eight events, or the second reshuffle, while the remaining players in the 156 player field will earn conditional status.

Qualifying school began with a pre-stage in September, but after competing in a few Web.com tour events already in his career, Cameron Wilson of Shorehaven went straight to the first stage of qualifying at Pinewild CC in Pinehurst, N.C. in late October. Wilson finished tied for 4th, well within the 32 qualifying spots and easily advanced to stage two with a four round total of 6-under 282. In his second stage at Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Fla., Wilson came running out of the gates, firing rounds of 69, 68, and 67 to take the lead at 12-under heading into the final round. The 2009 MGA Player of the Year finished with a 3-over 75 on his final day and fell back to 9-under and tied for 8th, which would be more than enough to grab one of the 19 qualifying spots and advance to the final stage.

The road to the finals required the pre-qualifying stage for 2014 MGA Player of the Year David Pastore of Griff Harris, who finished tied for 4th with a three-round total of 10-under 206 at Yolo Fliers Club in Woodland, Ca. Pastore’s first stage wasn’t quite as easy, but he was able qualify and tie for 22nd at ArborLinks in Nebraska City, NE., with a four-round total of 2-over 290. 18 spots plus ties were available in the second stage at Deerwood GC in Kingwood, TX., and he was able to capture one of them thanks to a tied for 14th finish at 6-over 294.

Surpassing both the pre-qualifying and first stages was Marc Turnesa of Rockville Centre, N.Y., who earned an exemption into stage two. Turnesa finished tied for 11th at Plantation Preserve Golf Course & Club and earned one of the 18 spots plus ties in the final stage thanks to a four-round total of even par 284.
