Five Met Area Golfers In Sony Open Field

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (January 6, 2014) – Five former Met Area players are set to tee off in Hawaii when the 2014 Sony Open begins Thursday, January 9 at Waialae Country Club.

Among the former locals competiting in the first full-field event of the calendar year is 2005 Carter Cup champion Morgan Hoffmann, who won more than $870,000 in 2013 and is looking to breakout as a young star on Tour.

2003 Met Open and 2004 Met Amateur champion Andrew Svoboda is also in the field and is fresh off a top-25 finish at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open back in October. In just three events, Svoboda, who claimed two Web.com Tour victories at the end of the season to secure his PGA Tour, has already out-totalled his earnings from a season ago.

Henry rides in already with three top-25 finishes of the short season and a 29th rank in the FedEx Cup Standings. Foley, a former Ike champion, is set to make his first start as a full-time player after finishing No. 34 on the Web.com Tour money list.
