Brudner and Karger Win Mixed Pinehurst
UPDATED: (October 3, 2014) - After an 18 hole playoff, Gale Brudner of GlenArbor and Michael Karger of Century became the 51st MGA/WMGA 
Mixed Pinehurst Champions. The team of Brudner and Karger defeated Rob Zuch and Dani Mullin, both of Southward Ho, in the playoff in after both teams shot matching scores of 2-under par at the championship on September 11. After leading by three strokes at the turn, Brudner and Karger finished the 18-hole playoff with a 73, defeating Zuch and Mullin who carded a 78.

MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sept.11, 2014) - A total of 55 teams competed today at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, N.J. in the 51st MGA/WMGA Mixed Pinehurst Championship.
Michael Karger of Century Country Club and Gale Brudner of GlenArbor Golf Club matched Rob Zuch and Danielle Mullin of Southward Ho Country Club at 2-under par gross and will be playing in an 18-hole playoff for the championship at a later date. Karger is the reigning MGA Mid-Amateur Champion and won last year’s Father & Son Net Tournament, while Mullin will be representing the MGA and WMGA in the upcoming French-American Challenge in Paris. Rounding out the top three low gross were Patrice Franco and Tom Buongiovanni of Cedar Brook who placed in solo third on a match of cards after carding a 2-over par 73.
Carding an 8-under par net and winning the Low Net was Charlie Cerimido of Glen Ridge Country Club and Maggie Pizzone of White Beeches Golf and Country Club. In second at 6-under par net was Ed Scully of MGA eClub New Jersey and Dorrie Scully of Peddie Golf Course. In third, winning on a match of cards, was Matt and Cathleen Finger of Darlington Golf Course.
Winning the Low Pro division was Justin Whipple and Kyla Basso of Paramount Country Club after firing a 1-under gross 70. Coming in second were last year’s gross winners Pat Wilson of Panther Valley and Ellen Oswald of Westchester Golf Club who came in at 3-over 74.
A Mixed Pinehurst is played with both partners teeing off from their assigned tee and then each plays a second shot with the other's ball. After the second shot, a choice is made regarding the ball with which the hole will be completed. Alternating shots will be continued until the hole is completed.
Forsgate Country Club played to a par 71.
