CJ Swift leads Met Am qualifiers at Pelham CC

PELHAM, N.Y. (July 18, 2016) – Qualifying for the 114th Met Amateur Championship concluded today at Pelham Country Club, where a total of seven players advanced to the Country Club of Fairfield in Fairfield, Conn., for the championship, August 4-7.

CJ Swift of MGA eClub - Westchester/Fairfield earned medalist honors on the day thanks to a stellar round of 4-under 67, in which four birdies and no bogeys vaulted him to the top spot on the leaderboard.

Coming in close behind with qualifying scores of 3-under 68, were Scott Sessions of Knollwood and 2012 Carter Cup Champion Jared Mactas of Paramount.

Connor Daly of Siwanoy, a recent semifinalist at the 99th Met Junior Championship, continued his strong play this summer by advancing to the Country Club of Fairfield with a round of 2-under 69.

Three players earned the final spots at Fairfield behind rounds of even-par 71, including Clancy Waugh of Deepdale, Ryan Siegler of MGA eClub - New Jersey, and Martin Jensen of Siwanoy.

Pelham played to a par 71 at 6,437 yards.

The qualifier was the last of five sectional qualifiers played to complete the field for the 114th Met Amateur Championship, the MGA’s oldest championship. Players will complete in 36 holes of on-site qualifying on August 4, with 16 competitors advancing to match play for the remainder of the championship.
