James Hazen of Miller Place, N.Y., earned medalists honors posting a 2-under 69 despite windy conditions in the morning. Hazen, who is currently competing on the PGA TOUR Latinoamerica, is happy to extend his journey towards a spot in the U.S. Open. "You play 36 really good holes and you can be playing up there in the biggest stage at Oakmont - which is just a fantastic golf course. It would mean more than anything to be able to tee it up in the open with the big guys."

David Young of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., shot a 1-under 70 to move on to the Sectional Qualifying Round. The Sleepy Hollow Head Professional joins his son, Cameron, who advanced to Sectionals at the Local Qualifier hosted by Old Westbury Golf and Country Club earlier last week.

Advancing to Sectionals with even-71 was 2014 Met Open Champion Grant Sturgeon of Port Chester, N.Y., 2011 Met Amateur Champion Michael Miller, amateur Tyler Cline of Tuxedo, N.Y., and Johnny Delprete of Palm City, Fla.

Greg Bisconti of South Salem, N.Y. secured the seventh qualifying position, making par on the first playoff hole. Amateur James Nicholas of Scarsdale, N.Y., earned the last qualifying spot with a birdie on the sixth playoff hole. Carl Alexander of Bedford, N.Y. was designated as first alternate and Michael Laudien of Stony Point, N.Y. was designated as second alternate.

Willow Ridge Country Club played to a par 71 at 6460 yards for a starting field of 144 players.
