Kopack and Wesson Share Medalist Honors at Met Am Qualifier at Edgewood
River Vale, N.J., (July 11, 2016) - Qualifying for the 114th Met Amateur Championship resumed today at Edgewood Country Club in River Vale, N.J. Twelve competitors advanced from the 129 man field, with Chris Kopack of Ramsey and Henry Wesson of Ridgewood earning medalist honors at 3-under 69.
Kopack carded six birdies on his round and Wesson made an impressive four consecutive front nine birdies to earn co-medalist honors.
Brent Ito of Mosholu, Ross Rabin of Edgewood, Corey Mitchener of Ballyowen, Hyun Woong Jin of Edgewood, and Joey Martinez of Maidstone followed with rounds of 1-under 70 to also advance to the Country Club of Fairfield.
At even par 72, Matthew Jackson of Golf Performance Center, Chris Lambrou of Lido, John Felitto of Echo Lake, Vinay Ramesh of MGA eClub – Westchester/Fairfield, and Stephen Colodny of MGA eClub Westchester/Fairfield rounded out the qualifiers.
Edgewood played to a par 72 at 6,630 yards.
Two more sectional qualifying rounds will take place before the championship. Additional qualifying for the Met Amateur will be held tomorrow, July 12 at West Hills Country Club and July 18 at Pelham Country Club.
