FAIRFIELD, Conn. (September 20, 2021) -- Timothy and Daniel Murphy of Fairfield, Conn., and Oxford, Conn., respectively, led the way in Monday's U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship qualifying round at Brooklawn Country Club. The side shot a bogey-free 9-under 62 behind nine birdies. The Murphy's entire round was well executed, but their strongest stretch came on Nos. 5-12, where they birdied five out of seven holes. Those five joined early birdies on Nos. 3 and 5 and two more late on Nos. 15-16 to help them advance.

Another duo of brothers also advanced to Alabama, as Sam and Will Bernstein of New York City finished in a close second with an 8-under 63. Their best play also came through the middle of the course, with an eagle-birdie-birdie run on Nos. 7-9. The run put an exclamation point on a 6-under first nine that opened with back-to-back birdies. A 2-under inward nine secured their ticket to next year's championship.
