Final Four Set at Rockaway River
DENVILLE, N.J. (July 14, 2020) -- Following two round of match play, the final four is set in the 103rd Met Junior Championship Sponsored by MetLife at Rockaway River Country Club, with the top two seeds James Allen of Scarsdale, N.Y., and Luke Sample of New York, N.Y., still standing and set to square off against Tyler Lee of Franklin Lakes, N.J., and Cole Ekert of Chatham, N.J., respectively.

Top-seeded Allen, a Penn State commit, continued his steady play with a 4-and-3 victory in the morning over Travis Dix of Howell, N.J. In the afternoon, Allen carried a 2-up lead into the inward nine, but Alex Gu of Darien, Conn., won Nos. 11 and 13 to tie the match. The pair tied the next five holes before Allen closed it out in 19 holes.
Meanwhile, Sample continues his quest to go from runner-up to champion following a 4-and-3 win in the opening round over Will Lodge of Darien, Conn., and a 2-and-1 win over Colin Summers of Westfield, N.J., in the afternoon. Sample extended his lead to 4-up through 10 holes, before Summers won back-to-back holes, but a par-4 on the 17th sealed his return to the semifinal round.
Lee, who faces Allen at 7:30 a.m., on Wednesday, played the most holes of anyone Tuesday, winning his morning match against Reed Greyserman of Short Hills, N.J., in 19 holes and edging Jackson Gaynor of Mamaroneck, N.Y., 1-up.
Ekert, who medaled in Met Amateur and Ike qualifying last week at Lawrence, had a pair of impressive wins and will take on Sample at 7:45 a.m. Ekert opened with a 4-and-3 win over Derek Weaver of Hacketstown, N.J., in the morning, before taking down Dean Greyserman of Short Hills, N.J., by a 5-and-4 margin to seal his spot in Wednesday's play.
Rockaway River Country Club is hosting its record 13th Met Junior Championship and has once again served as a quality test of golf for the junior field and as an exciting match play course.
