U.S. Open Local Qualifying Concludes in the Met Area

This year's U.S. Open will be the sixth conducted at Pebble Beach Golf Links.


ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 1, 2019) - The USGA reported that 9,125 entries were made into this years' U.S. Open Championship, which takes place June 16-19 at famed Pebble Beach Golf Links. The majority of those players' dreams to compete in our nation's open championship begins with local qualifying. This year, the MGA will conduct four U.S. Open local qualifying rounds throughout the Met Area. Local qualifying, played over 18 holes at 109 sites in the United States and one in Canada, will take place between April 29-May 13 and entrants must have a Handicap Index not exceeding 1.4, or be a professional.

Sectional qualifying, played over 36 holes, will be conducted at nine sites across the United States, while one will take place in each Japan (May 27), England (June 3), and Canada (June 3). After three years at Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, N.J., the MGA this year returns to Century Country Club and Old Oaks Country Club in Purchase, N.Y., for the June 3 qualifier.
