Gotterups Win MGA Father and Son at Cold Spring
HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (July 1, 2019) – Nearly 60 father and son teams competed Monday at the 69th MGA Father and Son Championship at Cold Spring Country Club, and this year Christopher and Morten Gotterup of Rumson Country Club came away with the title and the McBride Cup at Cold Spring Country Club.
The pair carded four birdies on the front nine for a 3-under 34, and followed up with another four birdies on the back nine for an overall 5-under 66. Coming in a solid 3 strokes ahead of the second-place team, Dave and Peter Scialabba of Meadow Brook, the Gotterups were able to secure the trophy for themselves, bringing the three-year winning streak for James and Stephen Nicholas to a close.
In the professional division a match of cards determined the winner, with three teams at 3-over 74. Mal and Mal Galletta III of Glen Cove won the match of cards with an even 34 on the back nine.
A low net winner was also awarded, with Daniel and Rocco Abbondandolo of Brookville coming in with a net 2-under 69.
Cold Spring played to a par-71 at 6,317 yards.
