BAY SHORE, N.Y. (July 19, 2019) --  Will Celiberti of Ridgewood, N.J., and Luke Sample of New York, N.Y., claimed victories in their morning semifinal matches and are squaring off for the title in the 102nd Met Junior Championship Sponsored by MetLife.

Celiberti put on a show in the morning, draining eight birdies en route to a 6-and-5 victory over Alex Kyriacou of Suffern, N.Y., who was 1-under at the time the match ended. Meanwhile, Sample secured his spot in the final by defeating Jackson Fretty of Cos Cob, Conn., in 20 holes, making birdie on the 18th hole after spinning his approach to within feet.

Celiberti is looking to avenge his runner-up finish in last year's Met Junior, while Sample is aiming to win the MGA/MetLife Boys and Met Junior in consecutive seasons. Live scoring is available for the final match.

The nation's oldest junior championship is conducted by the MGA Foundation, which offerns extensive youth programming thanks to the support of MetLife. Over the years, the Met Junior has produced a number of winners who have gone on to outstanding achievements on both the regional and national levels. Past winners of the prestigious Mandeville Trophy include Butch and Bill Harmon, Marc Turnesa, Andrew Svoboda, Mike Miller, David Pastore, and Cameron Young. The field once again contains the region’s top junior competitors, all aiming to add their name to the outstanding list of champions.
