Live From: 12th MGA Mid-Amateur
EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. (September 6, 2018) -- Four players enter Thursday's final round of the 12th MGA Mid-Amateur Championship tied atop the leaderboard following 2-under 70s on Wednesday at The Maidstone Club.
Colby Anderson of Nassau, Eric LeFante of Somerset Hills, MGA eClub – New Jersey member Chester Patterson and Hunter Semels of North Hempstead all posted 70s, while Matthew Finger of Darlington rounded out those in red figures thanks to 1-under 71.
The Mid-Amateur stands as the MGA’s second youngest championship. It debuted in 2007 at Hudson National and has been staged upon some of the Met Area’s most revered venues, with Nassau Country Club, Tamarack Country Club and Bayonne Golf Club hosting the most recent playings. The event is an invitational to competitors at least 30 years of age based on finishes in MGA and Met Area events. The trophy, the Westmoreland Cup, is named for longtime MGA Tournament Director Gene Westmoreland.
