Live From: 50th MGA/MetLife Boys Championship
SHELTER ISLAND HEIGHTS, N.Y. (August 10, 2018) -- Luke Sample of New York, N.Y., and Garrett Kessler of North Caldwell, N.J., will square off at 12:30 p.m. in the championship match of the 50th MGA/MetLife Boys Championship at Gardiner's Bay Country Club.
Sample stood all-square against Charlie Cummings of Wyckoff, N.J., through 9 holes, but the recent New York State Junior champion won Nos. 10-11 to take a 2-up lead. A birdie on the par-4 16th closed out the match, 4-and-2. Meanwhile, Kessler held a 1-up through eight holes, but then reeled off three consecutive victories against James Alden of East Northport, N.Y. While Alden won Nos. 12 and 15, Kessler took the 16th as well, winning 3-and-2.
