Live From: 71st MGA Public Links Championship
GREENWICH, Conn. (June 13, 2018) -- Jonathan Jeter of Nassau Players Club takes a three-shot lead into the final 18 holes of the 71st MGA Public Links Championship at Griffith E. Harris Golf Course, following his 3-under 68 in the morning round.
Jeter, winner of the Havemeyer Invitational this spring, had a steady round as he tallied four birdies to just one bogey. Starting on the 10th hole, Jeter quickly got to 2-under with birdies on the par-3 11th and par-3 12th holes. He gave a shot back on the par-4 1st as he made the turn, but once again scored back-to-back birdies on Nos. 6-7. Jeter is no stranger to high finishes in the Public Links, having finished third in 2017, tying second in 2016 and tying fourth in 2015.
Frank Meizoso of Bethpage enters the final round three shots back with an even-par 71, while Jim Hamburger of McCann and Michael Young Jr. of South Shore posted 2-over 73s to remain in the hunt.
The afternoon round is underway, with 9- and 18-hole scores available.
