McCormick, who is currently competing on the Asian Tour, took advantage of an open window in his schedule to take a shot at earning a PGA TOUR start. The 25-year old carded eight birdies to just one bogey during his qualifying round at TPC Dorado Beach. His 7-under 65 left him tied for second in the 80-man field, allowing him to secure a coveted spot in this week's event, which is running opposite of the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play. The Puerto Rico Open will be contested at Coco Beach Golf and Country Club, beginning Thursday.
