MetLife Youth Clinic Visits USGA

group of children at MGA Foundation’s MetLife Youth Clinic

FAR HILLS, N.J. (July 24, 2018) -- On Tuesday, July 24, eager participants from The First Tee of Met NY gathered for the MGA Foundation’s MetLife Youth Clinic at the USGA Headquarters for a complete learning experience full of both fun and educational activities. More than 40 students and chaperones were in attendance from four local First Tee chapters.

After hearing a short introduction about the USGA’s mission, the juniors made their way out to the 375-yard test range on the USGA’s campus to watch The Dennis Walters Golf Show. Walters, the 2018 recipient of the USGA's highest honor, the Bob Jones Award, demonstrated countless trick shots to the audience and spoke words of encouragement to the kids reminding them to never give up on their dreams.

Following the demonstration, the attendees then rotated through three different learning stations where they toured the Museum and Arnold Palmer Center for Golf History, tested their putting skills on the Pynes Putting Course with replica antique clubs, and visited the USGA Research and Test Center for a hands-on learning experience about the golf ball and aerodynamics.

This fun-filled learning experience was part of a series of Youth Clinics that the MGA Foundation hosts each summer with MetLife. For more than 30 years, the MGA and MetLife have partnered to provide the highest level of golf services the Metropolitan Area demands. MetLife’s support of the MGA Foundation is a testament to the company’s longstanding mission of giving back, and allows the MGA Foundation to continue instilling the values and traditions of golf in the next generation of golfers.

The next MGA/MetLife Youth Clinic will be held on Monday, August 20 at Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, N.Y., in conjuction with the MGA Caddie Schoalrship Pro-Am.
