MGA Schedule Update
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (Updated - March 20, 2020) — The Metropolitan Golf Association has been closely monitoring all information and updates regarding the Novel Coronavirus COVID-19. In this unprecedented time, the health and safety of MGA staff, members, club administrators, volunteers and the overall community is our primary focus.
We’re adjusting to an ever-changing environment and are focused on making socially responsible decisions. Along with the rest of the community, we will continue to monitor the situation closely while reviewing guidance from local, state and federal organizations. The MGA is fully committed to serving the needs of its members and member clubs during this time, with MGA staff members remaining able to provide services and assistance while working remotely. If you need assistance, please reach out to a staff member (using our online directory), or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Accordingly, the MGA has modified its schedule of upcoming events. Specifics for each event are available below and we will provide additional updates as needed. The MGA thanks its members and member clubs for their continued support, understanding and patience during this time.
Handicap & Rules Seminars
Handicap & Rules Seminars (3/14 at CC of Darien, 3/21 at Montclair, 3/28 at Cherry Valley & 4/4 at Apawamis) have been amended to webinars on March 21 and 28 and April 4 to fulfill the club authorization program.
The club authorization program requires each club to complete the educational requirement within the 12-month period beginning July 2019 through June 2020. The educational requirement includes attending a seminar conducted by the MGA and passing a quiz showing proficiency on the World Handicap System. All golf clubs in the MGA's jurisdiction must meet this requirement to be authorized to use the World Handicap System.
The webinars fulfill the certification requirement. A link to take the quiz will be sent after the webinar to participants who have registered AND attended.
Please click on the following link to register for our Saturday webinars. The typical schedule will be 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
The MGA Foundation will amend its typical Caddie Academies to four webinar sessions held throughout April. If you had already registered for a Caddie Academy at a previously scheduled club location, you will need to re-register.
Monday, April 6 - 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Tuesday, April 7 - 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Monday, April 13 - 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Tuesday, April 14 - 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
The MGA and the MGA Foundation are dedicated to continuing their longtime support of youth caddieing, which provides an outstanding opportunity for juniors to not only learn the lifelong game of golf, but also gain valuable life skills, build a strong work ethic, develop meaningful relationships, and earn the opportunity for educational scholarships through local caddie scholarship funds. Caddie Academies will provide participants with the skills necessary to make their first loop. Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be asked to complete a short test before being awarded their certificate of completion.
