Play Suspended at 104th Met Junior

TUXEDO PARK, N.Y. (July 12, 2021) -- Severe thunderstorms with heavy rains halted play in the 104th Met Junior Championship Sponsored by MetLife at 5:32 p.m., Monday at The Tuxedo Club, and led to a suspension of play for the day. Officials plan on resuming action at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, as players finish their final stretch and aim to stand as one of the 16 players to qualify for match play.

At the time of suspension, Cole Ekert of Chatham, N.J., stood atop the leaderboard at 1-under par. Ekert carded a 1-over 71 in the morning round, but played his first 10 holes in the afternoon in 1-under.

John Hiller of New York City and Tyler Lee of Franklin Lakes, N.J., sit at even-par, while two-time MGA/MetLife Boys champion Reed Greyserman of Far Hills is at 1-over. Steven Lee of Scarsdale, N.Y., set the pace in the morning round with a 3-under 68, but is 5-over on his round and is tied fifth alongside Charlie Berridge of Scarsdale, who finished his 36 holes with scores of 73-71.

Once the top 16 players are decided, two rounds of match play are on slate as well for Tuesday at The Tuxedo Club, which is hosting the Met Junior Championship for the first time.
